Eureka! expertise; Mersey ideas

Eureka! Mersey is an ambitious £11.75m project to extend the reach and impact of Eureka! expertise in play and discovery-based learning.

Our highly-skilled and knowledgeable team will apply their 27+ years of experience in running an award-winning commercially-successful visitor attraction in Halifax to this project.

Eureka! Mersey will be an evolution and extension of our services and experiences offered at Halifax.

We retain our deep commitment to the behavioural, social and emotional benefits of informal and playful learning but, at Eureka! Mersey, we will extend our remit to nurture aspirations and confidence in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) for a slightly older target audience of 8 – 14-year-olds.

What this will look like

Eureka! Mersey will be shaped by the layout and architecture of Seacombe Terminal and the surrounding landscape but we are also fundamentally committed to using co-creation with a range of partners to develop ideas for content, exhibits, and programmes.

To be successful, we believe that we must be of, by, and for the community.

About Eureka!

We are Eureka! The National Children’s Museum. Eureka! is an extraordinary fun-packed day out for kids aged 0-11. At our site in Halifax, West Yorkshire, we have six unique zones to discover – each filled with hundreds of interactive exhibits designed to inspire enquiring minds to find out about themselves and the world around them.

We opened our doors in July 1992 as the UK’s first and only dedicated museum for children and remain so today, welcoming an average of 300,000 family and school visitors each year.
